So this isn't as easy as I'd first anticipated --- I'm sitting here, listening to a screaming baby, and a daughter telling me that she's hungry. Sometimes I wish that I could sit here in peace without any disturbances -- be right back....
...On the other hand, I guess it's not healthy to sit on a computer and to ignore the world around you.
With sites like facebook and myspace, it's becoming quite common for people to lose themselves in the virtual reality.
I will openly admit that I am one of those people that will go on to facebook "just cause". Mostly to check my messages, or to see who wrote on my wall - when I'm done with that, I'll stay on and just randomly go from place to place, checking statuses, or to send a virtual flower to a friend. -- And that is the extent of my time spent online! And envitably, it has taken my time from THIS world, and my REAL interactions with the people in my life!
The same applies to you hardcore video gamers, that sit on their XBOX, (or P3) for countless hours without any direct human contact, or with the WORLD that is just a few short steps from your reach! Sure, there's the Wii, and it gets you up playing with your friends, but it's taken away the essence of going out and doing these things for real! (still a LOT of fun, believe me!)
I don't know about you, but I miss having real interactions with people, I miss using the phone to call my friends - now, unfortunately, it's "leave me a message on facebook" - they'll get back to you quicker that way. If your having a Party, Facebook it, and people will come.
I think I've got a new found love, one that people can appreciate, one that satisfies my need or want for being on the computer - one that won't take my precious time away from my family (ok, ok, so this one took a little longer than usual..... maybe I should wait for the kids to be sleeping next time?)
I'm outtie.
